The grand banquet hall was filled with bright daylight, polished white marble floors, and the soft hum of wealthy guests. Crystal chandeliers sparkled overhead as the waiter lined up glasses of vintage champagne along the main wedding table.
Clara: Excuse me, let me clear these plates for you.
Victoria: Watch where you are placing your hands, servant.
Clara: I am so sorry, ma'am. I will be very careful.
Clara leaned across the table to pick up a silver tray, but her heel caught on the edge of a chair leg. Her hand slipped, sending a crystal glass of orange champagne crashing onto the table near the groom's dark sleeve.
The glass shattered, splashing liquid across the white linen.
Victoria: WHAT KIND OF DISRESPECT IS THIS?!
Before anyone could react, Victoria's hand cut through the air. A sharp slap echoed across the grand hall. Clara staggered back, her hand flying to her face.
Clara: I didn't mean to! It was an accident!
Victoria: You ruined my wedding dress! Look at this mess on my special day!
Julian: Victoria, calm down. It was just a glass of champagne.
Victoria: Calm down?! Julian, she is incompetent! She did this on purpose!
Clara stood trembling, tears streaming down her bruised, red cheek. She pulled her hands away from her face, sobbing uncontrollably as the entire room stared at her.
Victoria: Get out of my sight right now! Someone fire this girl!
Clara: No... please... I didn't mean to spill it!
Julian: Are you okay? Let me help you up.
Victoria: Don't touch her, Julian! She's trash!
Clara quickly reached into her apron pocket with shaking fingers, pulling out her smartphone as her breath caught in her throat.
Clara: Sir, you don't understand! I had to spill that glass!
Julian: What are you talking about?
Clara: Look at this video right now!
Clara tapped the screen and held it out to Julian. The room went silent as Julian's eyes locked onto the glowing phone display, his face completely draining of color.
