Marcus: Lucia, look at me. Please.
Lucia: Marcus... my shift isn't over yet. I have three more floors to clean.
Marcus: You are never cleaning another floor in your life.
Marcus reached out, taking the heavy metal cart and pushing it firmly against the wall, leaving it behind in the corridor.
Lucia: I will get fired! I need this job to pay for my rent this month!
Marcus: You own this hotel, Lucia. Or rather, I own it. Which means you own it.
Lucia: What?
Marcus: The Sterling Group bought the Grand Regency chain four months ago. You work for me, Lucia.
Lucia: Marcus, I don't want your charity...
Marcus: This isn't charity! This is my responsibility! This is our child!
Marcus gently took her soft, worn hands in his, bringing them up to his lips and kissing her knuckles.
Marcus: Where are you staying right now?
Lucia: A small studio apartment near the industrial district...
Marcus: That ends tonight. You are coming back to the estate.
Lucia: Your mother lives at the estate, Marcus. I can't go back there. She hates me.
Marcus: My mother is moving into the guest house in New York tonight. She is no longer permitted at the main mansion.
Lucia: Marcus... you would kick your own mother out?
Marcus: She stole from you and forced my child to grow up in poverty for seven months. She is lucky I am not sending her to prison.
The hotel manager came running around the corner, wiping sweat from his forehead as he recognized the CEO of the company standing in the service hall.
Manager: Mr. Sterling! Sir! Is everything alright back here? We saw Miss Vance rushing out in tears!
Marcus: Mr. Roberts, take this cart.
Manager: Sir?
Marcus: Miss Lucia is resigning from her position effective immediately. Clock her out and prepare her full severance file by tomorrow morning.
Manager: Of course, Mr. Sterling! Right away!
Marcus: And Mr. Roberts?
Manager: Yes, sir?
Marcus: Prepare the private driver at the front entrance. My wife and I are going home.
