Ryan: You're a crazy old woman!
Margaret: Please, Ryan... don't do this!
Ryan: Shut your mouth!
The sound of the hand striking skin echoed loudly against the cold tiles of the kitchen.
Margaret: Ryan, I gave you everything...
Ryan: You gave me nothing! You kept the entire estate in your name!
Margaret: It belongs to the family trust!
Ryan: It belongs to me!
Ryan grabbed the wooden baseball bat leaning against the counter, lifting it high above his head.
Margaret: Please... somebody help me!
Ryan: Nobody is coming to save you! Your daughter doesn't care about you!
Margaret: Kelsey loves me... she'll find out!
Ryan: She's miles away playing soldier! She won't know until you're six feet under!
A sudden, explosive crash shattered the front entryway as the heavy oak door flew off its hinges.
Kelsey: Ryan!
Heavy tactical boots pounded against the hardwood floor with terrifying speed.
Ryan: What the hell?!
The aluminum bat slipped from Ryan's numb fingers, clattering loudly across the linoleum.
Margaret lay trembling on the floor, holding her left eye as dark purple bruising spread across her pale skin.
Margaret: Kelsey...
Kelsey: Mom! Stay down!
Ryan: Get back! I have rights in this house!
Kelsey: Shut your mouth before I shut it for you!
Kelsey stepped forward, her SWAT helmet catching the dim kitchen light while her jaw remained clenched in fury.
Ryan: You can't touch me! I'm her legal guardian!
Kelsey: You're a monster, Ryan!
Kelsey lunged across the kitchen island directly toward him.
Ryan: Wait! Stop!
A deafening gunshot echoed through the house, leaving a sudden, terrifying silence in its wake.
