The Arrest

The next morning, rain poured over the marble driveway of the Vance mansion.

Julian stood in the center of his empty living room, staring at the floor-to-ceiling windows. The bright daylight from the previous day was replaced by dark, gloomy clouds.

Arthur: Julian! Pack your bags! The bank has served an eviction notice on the house!

Julian: Where are we supposed to go, Dad? All our accounts are frozen!

Arthur: I have a small emergency fund in a offshore account! We can fly to London before the courts freeze that too!

Julian: I can't just run away like a coward!

Arthur: You are a coward! You destroyed our entire life because you couldn't control your hands!

Suddenly, three police cruisers pulled up to the front entrance, their red and blue lights flashing against the wet pavement.

SFX: Loud police sirens, heavy knocking on front door

Police Officer: Julian Vance! Open the door! We have a warrant for your arrest!

Julian froze, his eyes wide with horror as he looked at his father.

Julian: Dad... do something! Call our legal team!

Arthur: Our legal team resigned an hour ago, Julian! They haven't been paid!

The heavy front doors unlocked as officers pushed their way inside, their dark boots clicking loudly against the polished floor.

Police Officer: Julian Vance, you are under arrest for felony assault and domestic battery.

Julian: Wait! I'm a Vance! You can't touch me!

Police Officer: Turn around and place your hands behind your back.

The officer grabbed Julian's arms, pulling them behind his back and clicking heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists.

Julian: Dad! Help me! Call Chloe! Tell her I'm sorry!

Arthur: It's over, Julian... it's all over.

Arthur fell back into an armchair, covering his face with his trembling hands as the officers led his son out into the pouring rain.

News cameras were already gathered outside the gates, their flashes blinking rapidly as Julian was shoved into the back of a police cruiser.

He ducked his head down, trying to hide his face from the reporters, but the images of his arrest were broadcast live across the country within minutes.
