She Disowned Her Mother At Dinner Until A Secret Card Made Her Tremble

The smell of roast beef and sweet pumpkin pie filled the grand dining room.

Laughter echoed across the large mahogany table as twelve family members raised their glasses in a toast.

Tiffany: To another year of building our family empire!

Brenda: Cheers to that, my dear!

Tiffany: Get out! I didn't invite you!

The entire room went completely quiet as silver forks clattered against expensive porcelain plates.

At the edge of the doorway stood sixty-eight-year-old Martha, holding a worn black leather purse against her faded coat.

Martha: Tiffany... it's your thirty-fifth birthday. I just wanted to drop off a small gift.

Tiffany: I told you last month that you are no longer welcome in my home!

Greg: Tiffany, calm down, it's just your mother.

Tiffany: I don't care who she is, Greg! She embarrassed me in front of the board, and she's embarrassing me now!

Martha: I didn't mean to cause any trouble, sweetheart. I brought you something your father left behind.

Tiffany: Keep your old junk! You're a penniless old woman dragging down my social status!

Martha stood frozen under the bright chandelier light as her daughter's harsh words cut through her heart.

Tiffany: Look at you! You're wearing a faded jacket to a formal dinner! Get out before I call security!

Martha: You think money makes you better than the people who raised you?

Tiffany: It makes me better than you! Now turn around and walk out that front door right now!

Martha took a slow, heavy breath, her hands trembling as she pulled a thick white card from her coat pocket.

She stepped toward the table, her eyes fixed on her daughter's arrogant expression, hiding a truth that would change everything tonight.
