Sabrina: You slapped me, Marcus? You actually hit your own bride on our wedding day?!
Marcus: I saved you from committing a crime, Sabrina!
Sabrina: She is an intruder! That maid brought a random child into my house!
Elena: She isn't a random child, Miss Sabrina! You know exactly who she is!
Marcus held the little girl tightly on his hip, feeling her small hands clutching the lapels of his suit jacket. Her tear-filled blue eyes stared at the dropped baseball bat on the floor.
Marcus: What is her name, Elena?
Elena: Her name is Lily, Mr. Marcus. She is four years old.
Sabrina: Don't answer his questions, Elena! You are fired! Get out of this house right now!
Marcus: Nobody is leaving this hall until I get an answer. Sabrina, why were you swinging a bat at a helpless maid?
Sabrina: Because she snuck into my private dressing room! She was going through my personal safe!
Elena: That is a lie! I was looking for Lily's birth certificate!
Marcus: Birth certificate? Why would Lily's birth certificate be inside Sabrina's personal safe?
Sabrina's face went pale, her hand slowly dropping from her red cheek as she took a step backward toward the white couch.
Sabrina: She's making things up, Marcus. She wants to ruin our wedding because I cut her holiday bonus last month!
Elena: I don't care about a bonus, Mr. Marcus! Look at the little girl's face! Look at her eyes!
Marcus turned his head and looked closely at the little girl resting against his shoulder. He traced the shape of her small nose, her bright blue eyes, and the tiny dimple on her left cheek.
Marcus: Lily... where is your mother?
Lily: The lady in the white dress took my mommy away.
Marcus: What did you say, sweetie?
Lily: She said my mommy went to sleep for a long time, but I saw her in the car with the police men.
Marcus felt a cold chill run down his spine as he stared at his bride in her expensive lace gown.
Marcus: Sabrina... what did you do to this child's mother?
Sabrina: Marcus, baby, don't listen to a toddler! She's confused!
Marcus: Who is her mother, Sabrina?! Tell me right now!
Elena: Her mother is Hannah Sterling, Mr. Marcus! Your former fiancée!
The heavy silence in the hall felt suffocating. Marcus nearly dropped his hold on the child as the name hit him like a physical blow.
Marcus: Hannah? Hannah died in a car accident three years ago... you told me her car went off the bridge!
Sabrina: She did die! It was in the news reports!
Elena: She didn't die! Sabrina paid the hospital staff to hide her in a private medical care facility under a fake name!
Sabrina: Shut up! Shut your mouth, Elena!
Elena: I won't shut up anymore! I kept quiet for three years because you threatened to deport my family, but I won't let you hurt this baby girl!
Marcus set Lily down gently on the marble floor behind him, shielding her with his body as he stepped directly toward Sabrina.
Marcus: Where is Hannah?
Sabrina: Marcus, please... I did everything for us! I did it for our future!
Marcus: WHERE IS SHE?!
