Manager: I am very sorry, Mrs. Sterling, but this card is declining.
Beatrice: That is impossible. Try it again.
Manager: I have tried it three times. The system says the account is frozen.
Beatrice: Do you know who I am? I own this town.
Manager: I understand that, ma'am, but I cannot release the diamond necklace without payment.
Beatrice: Let me call my son. This is just a stupid bank error.
Beatrice snatched her phone from her purse and called Julian.
Julian: Mother, I don't have time right now. I am at the car dealership.
Beatrice: Julian, call the bank immediately. My black card just declined at the jeweler.
Julian: That's weird. The dealer just told me my financing for the new sports car was rejected.
Beatrice: Rejected? You are the CEO of Sterling Enterprises!
Julian: I know. I am looking at my banking app right now. Every account shows a zero balance.
Beatrice: Zero? How can that be? We have millions in the family trust.
Julian: I am trying to log into the corporate portal, but my password isn't working.
Beatrice: Call the wealth manager right now. Someone is stealing from us.
Julian: Hold on, I have an email from the estate lawyer.
Beatrice: What does it say?
Julian: It says my authority over the trust fund has been revoked due to a change in ownership.
Beatrice: Change in ownership? That is illegal! Your father left that money to us!
Julian: Mother, I need to go to the office and sort this out in person.
Beatrice: And what am I supposed to do about this necklace?
Julian: Just leave it! We have bigger problems right now.
Julian hung up the phone. He turned to the car salesman.
Julian: There has been a mistake. I will be back this afternoon with a cashiers check.
Salesman: Take your time, Mr. Sterling. The car isn't going anywhere.
Julian stormed out of the dealership and got into his old car. He hit the steering wheel hard.
Julian: What the hell is going on?
His phone buzzed again. It was a text from the mansion's head of security.
Security: Sir, there are people here changing the locks on the main gates.
Julian: Changing the locks? Stop them immediately!
Security: I can't, sir. They have legal documents. You need to come home.
