Julian snatched the leather folder out of Arthur's hand, his expression filled with total contempt as he flipped open the first page.
Julian: What is this? Just a bunch of legal garbage?
Arthur: Read page three, line four, Mr. Vance.
Victoria: Julian, don't waste your time reading his fake military papers.
Julian: Wait... Mom, look at this crest at the top.
Julian's eyes darted across the white paper, his smug smile slowly fading as he read the bold header printed in dark ink.
Julian: The Hayes Defense Real Estate Holdings... total valuation: four billion dollars?
Victoria: What?! Four billion dollars?! That's impossible!
Arthur: My grandfather founded Hayes Logistics in 1945, son. My family owns sixty percent of the land your father's skyscrapers stand on.
Lily: Father... you never told me about any of this.
Arthur: I wanted you to find a man who loved you for who you are, Lily. Not for my bank accounts.
Julian swallowed hard, his hands beginning to shake as he flipped through the remaining pages of the folder.
Julian: This... this says your family holds the master lease on the Vance Tower complex!
Arthur: That's correct. And that master lease is up for renewal at noon today.
Victoria: Richard! Where is Richard?! Someone get my husband up here right now!
An older man in a navy suit rushed up the white aisle, wiping sweat from his forehead with a silk handkerchief.
Richard: Victoria! What is going on?! Why are military vehicles parked across our entire driveway?!
Victoria: Richard! Tell me this old soldier doesn't own our building land!
Richard looked at General Arthur Hayes, his eyes widening in complete horror as he recognized the four stars on his chest.
Richard: General... General Hayes? Oh my lord...
Julian: Dad, you know this guy?
Richard: You idiot! This is Arthur Hayes! The chairman of the defense trust that funds our entire corporate mortgage!
Victoria: WHAT?!
Richard: General Hayes, please forgive my family! We had no idea you were Lily's father!
Arthur: You didn't care who her father was when your son was calling her a broke nobody two minutes ago, Richard.
Richard: Julian, you fool! What did you say to his daughter?!
Julian: I... I didn't know, Dad! I thought she was just a regular girl!
Lily: So if I was a regular girl, it was okay to humiliate me in front of two hundred people?
Julian: Lily, baby, please! I was just stressed out about the wedding planning! I didn't mean any of it!
Lily: Don't call me baby, Julian. You made your choice.
Victoria: General Hayes, let's calm down! This is just a small misunderstanding between young people!
Arthur: Misunderstanding? Your son told me I was beneath him, ma'am.
Victoria: He was joking! Julian has a very dry sense of humor, you know how boys are!
Arthur: I don't find disrespect funny, Mrs. Vance. And neither does my legal board.
