The Arrogant Manager's Big Mistake

Veronica: Julian? What's wrong? Who was that on the phone?

Julian: The... the bank board. The head trustee.

Veronica: What are you talking about? Tell them to stop playing games!

Julian didn't answer her. His legs felt like lead as he took a step down the stairs.

Julian: This can't be happening. There has to be a mistake with the computer system.

Clara: There is no mistake, Julian. You wanted me out of your hotel, didn't you?

Julian: Clara... who did you just call on that phone?

Clara: I called the man who bought your bank mortgage three years ago.

Julian stumbled down the remaining marble steps, almost tripping over his own polished shoes.

He rushed across the open foyer, dropping directly onto his knees at Clara's feet.

Julian: PLEASE FORGIVE ME! I WAS WRONG! PLEASE DON'T RUIN ME!

Veronica: Julian! Get off the floor! What are you doing in front of this woman?!

Julian: Shut up, Veronica! Just shut your mouth!

Julian clasped his trembling hands together, looking up at Clara with total terror in his eyes.

Julian: I didn't know it was you, Clara! I swear to God I didn't know!

Clara: You didn't care who I was, Julian. You saw a mother down on her luck and tried to crush her.

Julian: I was just trying to enforce policy! The front desk reported a payment error!

Clara: You threw my sick daughter's medicine bags onto the curb ten minutes ago!

Julian: I'll go get them myself! I'll carry them back upstairs right now!

Veronica: Julian, stop begging her! She's nobody! She's wearing a cheap dress!

Julian: YOU IDIOT! SHE OWNS THE REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT TRUST THAT FINANCED THIS BUILDING!

Veronica gasped, stepping back against the stair banister as her jaw dropped open.

Veronica: She... she owns the trust fund?

Julian: She owns sixty percent of the entire hotel property, Veronica!

Clara looked down at the kneeling man, her face devoid of any warmth or pity.

Clara: My late husband built this company from scratch, Julian. I let you run it because I trusted your father's recommendation.

Julian: My father loved your family! Please, for my father's sake, give me one more chance!

Clara: Your father was a good man with integrity. You are a bully who picks on defenseless guests.

Julian: I'll apologize to your daughter! I'll buy her whatever she wants!

Clara: TOO LATE! GET OUT OF MY HOTEL RIGHT NOW!

Clara pointed a sharp, commanding finger directly toward the grand glass entrance doors.

Two tall security guards in black suits stepped forward from the side hallway, grabbing Julian by his arms.

Julian: No! Wait! Don't touch me! Clara, please listen to me!

Security Guard 1: Sir, you need to stand up and walk out peacefully.

Veronica: Don't touch my coat! I'm leaving on my own!

Security Guard 2: You're both banned from the premises, ma'am. Move along.

The guards hauled Julian to his feet as he cried out in desperate, pathetic sobs.

They dragged him and Veronica across the marble floor toward the bright daylight outside.

Clara stood tall in the center of the sunlit hall, watching the heavy glass doors swing shut behind them.

The front desk manager ran out from behind the counter, clutching a silver key card in his shaking hand.

Front Desk Manager: Mrs. Sterling... I am so terribly sorry. We had no idea who you were.

Clara: Prepare the presidential suite on the top floor immediately.

Front Desk Manager: Right away, ma'am! Right away!

Clara: And bring my daughter's medicine up from the front steps without damaging a single bottle.

Front Desk Manager: I'll fetch it personally, Mrs. Sterling! It will be upstairs in two minutes!
