Doctor: Young lady, step aside immediately! Let me assess him!
Lily: I'm not stopping! His heart stopped less than two minutes ago!
David: Please, doctor! Do something! Reanimate my boy!
Doctor: Stand back, everyone! Give us room to breathe!
The physician checked for a carotid pulse, his expression darkening as he looked at the AED machine on the far wall.
Doctor: There's no cardiac pulse! The terminal defibrillator is locked in the security station!
David: What do you mean it's locked?! Get the key!
Doctor: Security isn't here yet! I need an airway tube!
Lily: One, two, three, four... come on, little guy, breathe!
Sweat beaded on Lily's forehead, her arms shaking under the strain of continuous CPR.
David: You're going to break his ribs! Doctor, stop her!
Doctor: No, keep going! She's maintaining cerebral blood flow! Don't stop, kiddo!
David: Ethan! Daddy is right here! Please come back to me!
A security guard rushed up, panting heavily while holding a small black key fob.
Security Guard: I have the AED key! Out of the way!
Doctor: Open the case! Quickly!
Lily: I can feel a faint flutter! He's trying to gasp!
David: Oh God, please! He gasped!
Doctor: Clear the chest! Apply the shock pads now!
Lily backed up slightly, her hands trembling as the doctor ripped open the medical pads and placed them on Ethan's chest.
AED Voice: Analyzing heart rhythm. Do not touch the patient.
David: Please... please save him...
AED Voice: Shock advised. Charging. Stand clear.
Doctor: Everybody stand clear of the body!
AED Voice: Press the orange button now.
The doctor slammed his hand onto the flashing button. Ethan's small body jolted off the floor as the electrical current passed through his chest.
David: Ethan!
The terminal fell completely silent as everyone waited for a breath. The boy lay motionless on the cold tile floor, his face still pale.
Doctor: No pulse... resume compressions immediately!
Lily: I'll do it!
Lily lunged forward again, placing her small hands over the boy's sternum without losing a single second.
David: My son... my life insurance policy covers everything, doctor, I don't care about money, just save him!
Doctor: Sir, calm down! We are doing everything humanly possible!
Lily: Come on! Breathe!
Suddenly, Ethan's chest heaved upward violently. A sharp gasp of air echoed through the quiet corridor.
Ethan: *Gasp*... Daddy?
David: Ethan! Oh my God, Ethan!
The crowd surrounding the scene burst into loud cheers and applause as David collapsed over his son, sobbing hysterically.
Doctor: He has a strong regular pulse! It's a miracle!
Lily: He's breathing on his own now.
Lily sat back on her heels, wiping sweat and tears from her pale face with her denim sleeve.
David: You saved him... you actually saved my little boy!
Lily: My mom taught me CPR before she passed away in the hospital last year.
David: Who are you? Where are your parents?
Before Lily could answer, a harsh, demanding female voice cut through the emotional crowd from behind the security gate.
Grace: What is taking so long?! We are going to miss our private charter flight to Chicago!
