The Father's Real Trust

The Maid She Framed Until Her Frozen Bank Account Proved The Truth banner

Richard: Clara, listen to me! I made a mistake! I shouldn't have let my mother talk to you like that!

Margaret: Richard! Don't you dare beg that peasant girl for mercy!

Richard: Mom, shut up! She controls all our money! We don't even own this house!

Clara: He's right, Margaret. You don't own a single brick of this estate.

Clara pulled a white leather folder from her handbag, stepping closer to the edge of the driveway gravel.

Clara: Your late husband hired a private investigator three years ago, Margaret. He knew about the offshore accounts you opened in Panama.

Margaret: That... that was for family investments!

Clara: That was money you stole from his charitable foundation to buy designer clothes and pay off your personal gambling debts.

Richard: Gambling debts? Mom, what is she talking about?

Margaret: She's making up lies to break our family apart!

Clara: Here are the bank receipts, Richard. Your mother lost two million dollars at the casino in Atlantic City last year alone.

Richard turned to stare at his mother, his eyes filled with shock and disbelief.

Richard: Two million dollars? Mom... you told me that money was invested in real estate bonds!

Margaret: Richard, darling... I was trying to make our family richer! I was going to pay it back!

Richard: You lied to me! You told me Clara was the one draining my trust fund!

Clara: She blamed me so you wouldn't look at her private bank statements, Richard. And you were too arrogant to ever check the numbers yourself.

Richard dropped to his knees on the stone driveway, holding his head in his hands as tears began to spill down his face.

Richard: I treated you like a maid... I let her slap you in our own kitchen...

Clara: You showed me who you really were, Richard. When a person shows you their true nature, you should believe them the first time.

Margaret: Clara, please... I am an old woman! You can't leave me with nothing!

Clara: You aren't leaving with nothing, Margaret. You're leaving with twenty-four hours to pack your clothes and clear out of this mansion.

Margaret: Twenty-four hours?! Where am I supposed to go?!

Clara: You can rent a small apartment with whatever is left in your personal savings account. Assuming the tax auditors don't seize that too.

Two silver police cruisers turned into the long driveway, their tires crunching loudly against the gravel as they pulled up behind Clara's sedan.

Richard: Clara... please... don't do this to us.

Clara: I'm not doing anything to you, Richard. You did this all to yourselves.

Two uniformed police officers stepped out of the lead cruiser, holding legal document folders in their hands.

Officer Davis: Are you Margaret Sterling?

Margaret: Yes... I am Mrs. Sterling! What is the meaning of this?!

Officer Davis: We have an arrest warrant issued by the State Prosecutor's office for corporate grand larceny, wire fraud, and tax evasion.

Margaret: Arrest warrant?! Richard! Do something! Call our lawyers!

Richard: With what money, Mom?! The lawyers won't even answer the phone without a retainer check!

Officer Davis: Turn around and place your hands behind your back, ma'am.

Margaret began to scream and kick as the metallic handcuffs clicked shut around her wrists.

Margaret: You ungrateful little maid! I made you who you are! You'll burn in hell for this!

Clara: Take her away, Officer.
