A Mother's True Home

The Maid Who Sang The Forbidden Lullaby banner

Leo stepped closer, wrapping one arm around Andrew's neck and his other arm around Sarah's shoulders.

Leo: Does this mean Sarah gets to sleep in the big bedroom now?

Andrew let out a soft, emotional laugh, wiping a tear from his own face as he looked at Sarah.

Andrew: Sarah gets whatever she wants in this house. She is the mother of this family, and this is her true home.

Toby: Can you sing the bird song now, mommy? The whole song?

Sarah dropped to her knees completely, pulling both Toby and Leo into a tight, warm embrace. For the first time in seven painful years, she didn't have to hide her love or pretend to be just a hired servant.

Sarah: Yes, my sweet boy. I'll sing it for you every single night for the rest of my life.

Andrew: We're going to fix everything, Sarah. The custody, the legal papers, the family estate... everything will be in your name.

Sarah: I don't care about the estate, Andrew. Having my boys back in my arms is the only wealth I ever needed.

Andrew placed his hand over hers, a warm smile breaking through his tired face as the boys hugged them both tightly.

Leo: I love you, Mommy.

Toby: I love you too, Mommy.

Sarah: I love you more than all the stars in the sky, my beautiful boys.

The quiet warmth of the grand foyer finally felt like a real home as Sarah began softly singing the gentle lullaby, her voice filling every corner of the house with the love that had finally returned to stay.
