The Poisoned Vintage

The crystal chandeliers of the grand estate dining hall blazed with high-key daylight, casting sharp reflections across the polished hardwood floors and the pristine white walls of the luxury mansion. Clara stood rigidly near the long dining table, her fingers tightening around a heavy crystal wine decanter as her heart hammered violently against her ribs. Across from her sat Arthur, a wealthy elderly gentleman and owner of the estate, who had no idea what was about to happen in his own home. Victoria, dressed in a sparkling gold gown that caught every flicker of light, leaned casually against the mahogany surface with an arrogant smile playing across her lips. Clara's breathing turned shallow and frantic as she watched the subtle, venomous movement of Victoria's hand hovering near the open wine bottle. The air in the room grew suffocatingly heavy, smelling of expensive vintage wine and simmering malice. Clara knew she had to act immediately before the poison took effect, but the sheer shock of what she had just witnessed on the security feed paralyzed her for a fraction of a second. She took a sharp step forward, her instincts overriding her fear as she threw out a desperate warning to the man sitting at the table. The silence of the grand dining hall was instantly shattered by her frantic shout, drawing angry glares from everyone in the room.

Waitress: SIR PLEASE, DON'T DRINK THAT!

Arthur: What on earth is the meaning of this interruption, Clara?

Waitress: You can't drink from that decanter! It's not safe!

Victoria's face flushed with sudden, enraged embarrassment as she pushed herself up from her chair with explosive speed.

Woman in Gold: DO NOT EMBARRASS THIS FAMILY!

Waitress: I'm saving his life! You put something in this wine!

Victoria: You insolent little maid! How dare you accuse me in my own fiancé's house!

Clara's hands shook, but her eyes hardened with absolute determination as she pulled her smartphone from her vest pocket.

Waitress: LOOK AT THE CAMERA! SHE POISONED IT!

Victoria froze for a single heartbeat, her golden dress catching the bright daylight while the color drained entirely from her face.
