The Truth Revealed

Arthur: Let's head back inside, Elena.

Elena: Yes, Mr. Sterling. You need to rest after all this stress.

Arthur: I have never felt more awake in my life, child.

They walked into the quiet study, where the cool night air was still blowing through the open window.

Arthur shut the window and turned to face Elena.

Arthur: Sit down, please.

Elena: Sir, I should clean up the banquet hall first.

Arthur: Sit down, Elena. That's an order from the master of the house.

Elena smiled softly and took a seat on the leather sofa.

Arthur: Tell me about your mother, Sarah. How is she doing?

Elena: She passed away two years ago, Mr. Sterling.

Arthur stopped, his eyes softening with deep sadness.

Arthur: I'm so sorry. I didn't know.

Elena: She talked about you all the time before she got sick.

Arthur: What did she say?

Elena: She said you were the only employer who treated her like a human being after my dad left.

Arthur: Your mother was the most honest worker this house ever had.

Arthur: She worked sixty hours a week so you could go to college.

Elena: She did. I graduated last year with a degree in business administration.

Arthur: A business degree? Then why are you working as a housemaid here?

Elena: Jobs are tough right now, sir. I needed to pay off her medical bills.

Arthur: You have a college degree, and you were sweeping floors in my mansion?

Elena: Work is work, Mr. Sterling. My mom taught me never to be too proud to earn an honest dollar.

Arthur walked over to his heavy mahogany desk and sat in his leather chair.

He pulled out a fountain pen and a sheet of fresh parchment paper.

Arthur: Tomorrow morning, my legal team is revoking Victoria's entire marital trust.

Elena: That makes sense, sir.

Arthur: And I am rewriting my will.

Elena: Mr. Sterling, you don't need to discuss your money with me.

Arthur: I have no children, Elena. My wife tried to murder me for seventy million dollars.

Arthur: A young woman who earns six hundred dollars a week saved my life today.

Elena: I did what anyone should do.

Arthur: Nobody else in that room moved a finger. Only you.

Arthur: You risked your job, took a slap to the face, and got knocked to the floor to protect me.

Elena: Because it was right, sir.

Arthur: Loyalty like that cannot be bought, Elena. It can only be rewarded.
