Richard: Maria, please go upstairs and pack Mrs. Sterling's bags.
Maria: Right away, sir.
Evelyn: Don't you touch my things! She has no right to touch my clothes!
Richard: Fine. Then you have ten minutes to go up there and pack them yourself.
Evelyn: Ten minutes?! It will take me hours to pack my wardrobe!
Richard: Ten minutes. Whatever isn't in a suitcase by then stays here and goes straight to goodwill.
Evelyn: You are being utterly cruel, Richard!
Richard: Cruel? You just assaulted an innocent child! Nine minutes and fifty seconds, Evelyn. The clock is ticking.
Evelyn glared at him, her eyes filled with rage and fear, before turning around and frantically sprinting up the marble stairs.
Richard: Maria, step into my study for a moment, please.
Maria: Yes, Mr. Sterling.
Richard walked into his home office, pulling out a chair for Maria before sitting down behind his heavy wooden desk.
Richard: I want to apologize to you, Maria. I should have noticed what was happening sooner.
Maria: You were busy working to provide for the family, sir. She was very sneaky when you were around.
Richard: That's no excuse. I trusted her with my home and my son.
Maria: Leo is a good boy. He loves you very much. He was just trying to protect his mother's picture.
Richard: Starting today, I am giving you a permanent raise, Maria. Double your current salary.
Maria: Oh, Mr. Sterling... that's too much, I can't accept that!
Richard: You stood up for my son when he needed help the most. You protected him when I wasn't here. You deserve far more than that.
Maria: Thank you, sir. I just care about Leo like he was my own grandson.
Richard: I know you do. And from now on, you have total authority in this house regarding his care.
From upstairs, the loud sound of closet doors slamming shut and luggage zippers pulling echoed down the hallway.
Maria: Sounds like she's hurrying.
Richard: She has five minutes left.
Richard reached into his desk drawer and pulled out a small black drive, plugging it into his laptop to back up the security footage.
Richard: My attorney will need this video file for the custody hearing and the restraining order.
Maria: Will she try to take money from you in the divorce?
Richard: She can try. But with this footage and the signed prenuptial agreement, she won't get a single dime.
Maria: What about her family? Her mother called here last week asking for a loan.
Richard: Her whole family was using me as a personal bank account. That ends today.
A heavy suitcase clattered down the top stairs, followed by Evelyn dragging two massive designer bags behind her.
Evelyn: I can't carry all of this down by myself! Send the driver to help me!
Richard: The driver doesn't work for you, Evelyn. He works for me.
