Chloe: Thank you, Mr. Vance! I won't let you down!
Sarah: Welcome to the team, dear. Now go grab your coat, we're flying private today.
While Sarah and Marcus prepared to board their private jet, Victoria sat on a cold wooden bench inside the JFK Airport police holding cell. Her beige designer trench coat was wrinkled, her makeup smeared from tears, and her right cheek was bruised and swollen from Marcus's slap.
An officer walked up to the steel bars, holding a thick folder.
Officer Jenkins: Victoria Miller?
Victoria: Yes! Is my lawyer here?! Am I getting out?!
Officer Jenkins: Your lawyer just called. He said he's dropping your case.
Victoria: What?! Why would he drop my case?!
Officer Jenkins: Vance Global Logistics just put out a public press release with the video footage. Your name is trending number one on every news site in the country. Nobody wants to touch you.
Victoria's heart dropped into her stomach. She grabbed the cold steel bars of the cell, her knuckles turning white.
Victoria: No... no! My career! My reputation!
Officer Jenkins: You also have a court date set for tomorrow morning at nine. The prosecutor is charging you with third-degree felony assault on an elder.
Victoria: Felony?! I can't go to prison! I have a mortgage on a two-million-dollar condo in Manhattan!
Officer Jenkins: You should have thought about that before you shoved a woman down at a flight gate.
The officer walked away, leaving Victoria alone in the dim, silent cell. She slid down the metal bars, sitting on the dirty floor and sobbing uncontrollably. The very floor she had forced Sarah onto was now the only seat she had left.
Meanwhile, three thousand feet in the air, Marcus's private Gulfstream jet cut smoothly through the clouds toward London. Inside the spacious cabin, Sarah rested comfortably in a plush leather reclining seat, her feet elevated as she sipped warm chamomile tea.
Sarah: You know, Marcus... I was so embarrassed when she knocked me down.
Marcus: I know, Mom. But you never have to feel embarrassed again. People like her think money gives them power, but real power is treating people with dignity.
Sarah: I raised you well, son.
Marcus: You taught me everything I know. That's why I'll always protect you, no matter where we go.
Sarah smiled, looking out the window at the endless blue sky. The nightmare at Gate 12 was over, but the lesson would stay with Victoria Miller for the rest of her life.
