A Real Home

He Slapped His Fiancee After She Screamed At His Crying Daughter banner

Two days later, the morning sun shone brightly into the cozy kitchen of the Sterling mansion. The cold, tense atmosphere that had hung over the estate was completely gone.

Mrs. Gable was standing at the stove, flipping fresh blueberry pancakes onto a plate, while warm jazz music played quietly from a small radio on the counter.

Lily sat at the breakfast island in her favorite pink overalls, swinging her legs happily as she drew a picture with colorful crayons.

Lily: Look, Mrs. Gable! I drew a big sunshine over our house!

Mrs. Gable: That is the most beautiful sunshine I've ever seen, sweet pea! Here come your pancakes!

Marcus walked into the kitchen wearing a casual grey sweater and jeans, a relaxed smile on his face as he kissed the top of Lily's head.

Marcus: Morning, my little artist!

Lily: Daddy! Look! I made a picture of us and Mrs. Gable!

Marcus looked at the drawing. Three stick figures stood in front of a giant yellow house with hearts drawn around the roof.

Marcus: I love it, baby. We're going to frame this and put it right in my office.

Lily: Really?

Marcus: Absolutely. Right on the center wall where everyone can see it.

David walked through the back kitchen door holding two large cardboard boxes filled with colorful toys and board games.

David: Good morning, everyone! Guess who brought the entire board game aisle from the toy store?

Lily: UNCLE DAVID!

Lily hopped down from her stool and ran across the kitchen, hugging David around the waist.

David: Hey kiddo! Ready for game night tonight?

Lily: Yes! Can we play Candy Land first?

David: Only if I get to be the red game piece!

Marcus laughed, pouring himself a fresh cup of coffee and sitting down next to his daughter's spot at the island.

Marcus: David, did Arthur call you this morning?

David: Yeah. He said Alana's bail hearing was denied. Her trial is set for next month, and her lawyer is already trying to negotiate a plea deal.

Marcus: She won't get one. The district attorney is pushing for the full ten-year sentence.

David: Good. She deserves every single day in a cell.

Lily looked up from her pancakes, her big blue eyes looking between her father and her uncle.

Lily: Daddy... is the mean lady ever coming back?

Marcus set his coffee cup down, kneeling beside Lily's chair so he was eye-to-eye with her.

Marcus: No, Lily. Never again. Nobody is ever going to scream at you or make you feel small in this house ever again.

Lily: Is it just going to be us now?

Marcus: It's going to be us, Uncle David, Mrs. Gable, and anyone else who truly loves you. This house belongs to you, baby. Always.

Lily smiled brightly, reaching out her small syrup-covered hand to touch her father's cheek.

Lily: I love you, Daddy.

Marcus: I love you more than all the stars in the sky, sweet girl.

Marcus wrapped his arms around his daughter, pulling her into a tight, warm hug as the warm sunlight filled the kitchen, bringing true peace to the home they had built together.
