Victoria took a step toward Brandon, reaching out to touch his arm with a desperate expression on her face.
Victoria: Brandon, please listen to me. I did all of this for you! If our company went bankrupt, you would have had nothing!
Brandon: I would have had my dignity, Mom! I would have had my self-respect!
Victoria: You don't understand how the business world works! Everyone takes shortcuts!
Chloe: Forging a dead woman's signature to siphon her daughter's inheritance isn't a shortcut, Victoria! It’s a federal crime!
Victoria: Keep your mouth shut, Chloe! You were nobody before my son brought you into our circle!
Brandon: Stop talking to her like that!
Brandon stepped in front of Chloe, pulling out his smartphone from his tuxedo pocket.
Victoria: Who are you calling, Brandon?
Brandon: I’m calling the police department.
Victoria: You would send your own mother to prison over a girl you met two years ago?!
Brandon: I’m doing this because you stole millions from an orphaned woman and tried to trap her into a fake prenup on her wedding day!
Mr. Harrison immediately grabbed his briefcase and bolted toward the side exit door.
Mr. Harrison: I am cooperating fully with the authorities! I was forced into this by Mrs. Vance!
Victoria: You coward! Get back here!
Chloe held Toby close to her side, wiping a fresh tear from her cheek as Brandon spoke into his phone.
Brandon: Yes, operator? I need officers at the Grand Marble Wedding Hall immediately. We have a grand larceny and bank fraud situation involving four million dollars.
Victoria: Brandon! Hang up that phone right now! I am your mother!
Brandon: The suspect is here in the bridal suite, operator. Please hurry.
Brandon ended the call, looking at his mother with cold, distant sorrow in his eyes.
Victoria: You are ruining this family name! The media will destroy us tomorrow morning!
Brandon: You destroyed our family name the day you decided money was more important than human lives, Mom.
Toby looked up at Brandon, holding out the real blue velvet ring box with a sweet, innocent smile.
Toby: Uncle Brandon, you found the real shiny ring! Is Aunt Chloe happy now?
Brandon knelt down beside Toby, placing a hand on the toddler’s tiny shoulder.
Brandon: Aunt Chloe is going to be safe now, buddy. Thanks to you.
Toby: I was a good ring bearer, right?
Brandon: You were the best ring bearer in the world, little guy.
Two police officers stepped through the open doors of the suite, accompanied by venue security guards.
Police Officer: We received a report of financial fraud and grand theft property. Who called 911?
Brandon: I did, officer. My mother, Victoria Vance, has stolen four point five million dollars from my fiancé's family trust fund and substituted stolen property on venue grounds.
Victoria: Officer, this is a private family dispute! My son is being manipulated by this woman!
Police Officer: Ma'am, we have a warrant alert issued from the Chicago Financial Crimes Unit regarding your name. Please step forward and keep your hands visible.
Victoria gasped as the officer pulled a pair of steel handcuffs from his belt.
