Exposing The Truth

My Angry Ex-Husband Tried To Steal Our Daughter's Trust Fund banner

David: Laura, please! Think about what this will do to my reputation! If my business partners see me in handcuffs, I'll be ruined!

Laura: You ruined yourself the day you decided to steal from your own daughter.

David: I was going to pay it back! Every single cent! With interest!

Laura: Just like you paid back the money you took from my mother's life insurance policy?

David went pale, his jaw tightening as he looked at the police officer holding his arm.

David: That was a loan! She agreed to give me that loan!

Laura: She was eighty years old and suffering from dementia, David! You made her sign those checks when I was out of town!

Officer Miller: Is that true, ma'am?

Laura: Yes, Officer. We filed a civil report about it six months ago with our family attorney.

David: That case was dismissed for lack of evidence!

Laura: It wasn't dismissed. The police were waiting for financial records from the bank. And guess what arrived in my mail yesterday morning?

Laura pointed her finger toward the stack of bank statements lying on the counter.

Laura: The bank sent certified copies of the forged signatures. My attorney already turned them over to the district attorney's office.

David: You... you set me up?!

Laura: I didn't set you up, David. You came here uninvited, broke into my house through the back patio, and assaulted me.

David: I didn't break in! The door was unlocked!

Officer Miller: Entering a residence without permission while a restraining order is pending is still illegal, sir.

David: Restraining order?! She didn't get a restraining order!

Officer Miller: The temporary protective order was granted by Judge Hayes yesterday afternoon. It was delivered to your office at nine this morning.

David slumped his shoulders, realization finally washing over his face as his arrogant expression vanished completely.

David: I... I didn't open my mail today...

Officer Miller: Ignorance of the law is not an excuse. You're violating a judge's order, committing domestic battery, and attempting extortion.

Lily: Mommy, my arm hurts where Daddy grabbed me earlier.

Laura's eyes widened in horror as she looked down at her daughter's arm. A small red mark was visible on Lily's soft wrist.

Laura: You touched her too?! You laid hands on our daughter?!

David: I was just trying to pull her away from the door so she wouldn't run outside!

Laura: Officer, please add child endangerment to the charges!

Officer Miller: It's already being recorded on my body camera, ma'am.
