David: Samantha? What does Samantha have to do with anything?
Mark: Take a look at this video feed from the living room camera, David.
David put his legal files down on the dining table, taking Mark's phone and watching the footage with growing anger on his face.
David: Is that... she tried to steal her own watch and blame Chloe?
Jessica: She didn't just try, David. She screamed at Chloe in front of all of us and demanded we search her belongings.
David: That ungrateful little snake! After everything we did to help her family!
Chloe: What do you mean, David? What did we do to help her family?
David took a deep breath, running a hand through his hair as he looked down at his wife.
David: I didn't want to tell you this because Samantha begged me to keep it secret, Chloe.
Chloe: Secret? David, what are you talking about?
David: Samantha came to my corporate law office three weeks ago. Her family was facing a massive lawsuit over unpaid commercial mortgages.
Jessica: How much did they owe?
David: Over four hundred thousand dollars. They were about to lose their penthouse in the city and two luxury vehicles.
Chloe: Did you lend her money, David?!
David: No! I told her I couldn't use our personal estate funds to bail out her family's bad investments. But I offered to represent them in court for free to help them negotiate a settlement.
Mark: And how did she react to that?
David: She was furious. She said a real friend would write a check on the spot instead of giving legal advice.
Chloe: So she held a grudge against us because you refused to give her a handout!
David: She told me that if I didn't help her, she would make sure everyone knew what kind of people we really were.
Jessica: That's why she brought up the watch today! She wanted to destroy your reputation out of revenge!
David: Where is she now?
Chloe: I slapped her and threw her out of our house. She ran to her car crying.
David: Good. But this isn't over yet. She tried to commit insurance fraud inside our home.
Mark: Insurance fraud? What do you mean?
David: That watch was insured for sixty thousand dollars, Mark. If she claimed it was stolen at our party, her insurance company would have paid her out while framing Chloe for felony theft.
Chloe: Oh my god... she was trying to get a payout from her insurance company!
David: I am calling our precinct commander right now. We are pressing full criminal charges.
