Margaret: No. No, this cannot be happening.

Sarah: The sirens are getting closer, Margaret. It is over.

Margaret: Sarah, please. We can work this out. I will sign over the estate.

Sarah: I don't want your money. I want you away from my child forever.

Margaret: If I go to prison, the scandal will destroy the family business!

Sarah: You should have thought about the business before you brought poison into my kitchen.

Margaret: I panic. I made a mistake.

Elena: Attempted murder is not a mistake.

Heavy boots pounded up the grand staircase. Two police officers appeared in the hallway with their hands on their belts.

Officer: Is everyone alright in here? We got a 911 text with a video attachment.

Sarah: We are fine, officer. But you need to arrest this woman.

Margaret: Officer, this is a terrible misunderstanding. My daughter-in-law is unwell.

Officer: Ma'am, we watched the footage on the dispatch tablet. It is pretty clear.

Margaret: It was just herbal tea extract!

Officer: We will let the crime lab determine that. Please put your hands behind your back.

Margaret: You cannot arrest me! I am a major donor to the police charity fund!

Officer: That doesn't buy you a pass for poisoning a minor, Mrs. Davis.

The officer firmly grabbed Margaret's wrists and clamped cold steel handcuffs over her white suit sleeves.

Margaret: Take your hands off me! I demand to call my lawyer!

Officer: You will get a phone call at the station. Let's go.

Margaret: Sarah! Tell them to stop! You are ruining my life!

Sarah: Have a nice time in a concrete cell, Margaret.

The officers led the screaming grandmother out of the house. The heavy front door slammed shut below.

Silence finally returned to the nursery. Sarah sat back down in the rocking chair, trembling as she held Lily.

Elena: Let me get a towel to clean up this milk, ma'am.

Sarah: Elena, wait.

Elena: Yes, ma'am?

Sarah: I am so sorry I slapped you. I was just so scared.

Elena: I understand. You were protecting your baby.

Sarah: You risked your job to protect her, too. I will never forget that.

Elena: I just couldn't let her drink it. I couldn't.

Sarah: You are not a maid anymore, Elena. You are the head of this household staff starting today.

Elena: Ma'am, that is a huge promotion. Are you sure?

Sarah: I am positive. And I am doubling your salary. We need someone we can actually trust.

Elena: Thank you, Sarah. I promise I will always watch out for Lily.

Sarah: I know you will. Now, let's go downstairs and make a fresh, safe bottle for my perfect little girl.
