The Truth Behind The Choir Room

Alex: Tell me his name right now, Jessica.

Jessica: Alex, please! I swear to you on my life, she's lying!

Alex: A four-year-old girl doesn't invent a story about the green choir room, Jessica!

Jessica: She was playing in the hallway! She doesn't know what she saw!

Sophie pulled on the hem of Alex's tuxedo jacket, her voice tiny but firm in the quiet chapel.

Sophie: The tall man with the black jacket, Mr. Alex. He gave her a big hug and said they were going to be rich today.

Alex: A tall man in a black jacket?

Alex turned around toward the back pews, his eyes scanning the crowd of three hundred guests.

Alex: Marcus! Is Derek in this building right now?

Marcus, Alex's best man and closest friend, stood up quickly from his seat.

Marcus: Alex, I saw Derek walk toward the choir hallway about twenty minutes ago.

Jessica: Derek is my personal trainer! He just came to wish me good luck before the ceremony!

Alex: Your personal trainer wished you good luck by kissing you and talking about getting rich?

Jessica: It was a cheek kiss! It was just a friendly hug because I was nervous!

Sophie's mother, Sarah, rushed down the aisle with her hands clasped in deep embarrassment.

Sarah: Alex, I am so sorry! I tried to catch Sophie when she ran out of the bride's room!

Alex: Don't apologize, Sarah. Where was Sophie before she ran down the aisle?

Sarah: She was drawing pictures in the hallway near the choir room while I was fixing my dress.

Sophie: The door was open a little bit, Mommy! I saw them hugging real close!

Jessica grabbed the edge of the wooden pulpit, her breath coming in ragged, shallow gasps.

Jessica: Alex, look at me! We've been together for two years! How can you trust a child over your own fiancee?

Alex: Because a three-year-old child doesn't have a reason to ruin my life, Jessica.

Jessica: I love you! I've dedicated my whole life to planning this wedding!

Alex: You dedicated your life to my family's trust fund, didn't you?

Jessica's mother, Linda, stood up from the front row in her expensive purple silk dress, waving her purse in anger.

Linda: Alex Vance! How dare you accuse my daughter of being a gold digger in front of our family!

Alex: Sit down, Linda! You've been pressuring me about the prenuptial agreement for three months!

Linda: She is a bride on her wedding day! You just slapped her in front of three hundred people!

Alex: She stood at this altar and lied straight to my face while taking my family ring!

Marcus walked down the center aisle, holding his smartphone out toward Alex.

Marcus: Alex, you need to see this text message right now.

Alex: What is it, Marcus?

Marcus: I just checked the venue security system on my phone app. The choir room hallway has an automatic motion camera.

Jessica's eyes went wide with pure terror as she took a slow step backward on the altar steps.

Jessica: No... Marcus, don't do this!

Marcus: I have thirty seconds of clear video footage right here from twelve minutes ago, Alex.

Alex took the phone from Marcus's hand, his thumb tapping the screen as the video began to play.

The quiet chapel remained completely silent as Alex watched the glowing screen, his face turning cold as ice.

Alex: You kissed him on the lips, Jessica. And then you handed him a check from my personal account.
