The Hidden Cameras

The Maid Who Blocked the Billionaire's Slap banner

Vanessa: She has dementia, Victor! You can't trust what she says!

Victor: My mother may forget a lot of things, but she doesn't lie.

Vanessa: You are going to take the word of a sick old woman and a minimum-wage maid over your future wife?

Victor: I don't have to take anyone's word, Vanessa.

Vanessa: What does that mean?

Victor: It means I had security cameras installed in this hallway yesterday.

All the color drained from Vanessa's perfectly contoured face.

Vanessa: Cameras? Why would you do that without telling me?

Victor: Because I noticed bruises on my mother's arms last week.

Vanessa: She bumps into things! She is clumsy in that wheelchair.

Victor: I watched the live feed from my phone in the car, Vanessa.

Vanessa: Victor, please.

Victor: I heard every word you said to her. I saw you raise your hand.

Vanessa: I was just stressed! The gala is tonight, and everything is going wrong.

Victor: You tried to slap a defenseless elderly woman.

Vanessa: I wouldn't have actually hit her! I was just scaring her so she would be quiet.

Victor: That is not a defense, Vanessa. That is abuse.

Vanessa: I am sorry! I will never do it again. I promise.

Victor: You are right. You will never do it again.

Victor reached into his tuxedo jacket. He pulled out a small velvet box.

Vanessa: Victor, what are you doing?

Victor: Hand me the ring, Vanessa.

Vanessa: No! We are getting married. The invitations are already sent!

Victor: The wedding is canceled. Take the ring off right now.

Vanessa: You can't do this to me. I gave you three years of my life!

Victor: And you just tried to assault the woman who gave me life. The ring. Now.

Vanessa's face trembled. She slowly pulled the massive diamond engagement ring off her finger.
