The steel handcuffs snapped tightly around Sophia's wrists, making her let out a sharp, humiliated cry that echoed down the long hallway.
Sophia: Alejandro! Tell them to stop! I am your sister! You can't let them take me away in handcuffs!
Alejandro: You stopped being my sister the moment you put poison in our mother's tea.
Karina: Please, officer! I was just following her orders! She threatened to take away my nursing license if I didn't help her!
Police Officer: You can tell that to the federal judge, ma'am. Handcuff her too.
The second officer grabbed Karina's wrists, clicking the metal cuffs into place as she wept uncontrollably, her grey nurse uniform shaking with fear.
Karina: I have three children at home! Please don't take me to jail!
Police Officer: You should have thought about your children before you endangered an innocent woman's life for money.
The officers led both women out of the master bedroom, their heels scraping against the hardwood floors as Sophia screamed insults at her brother all the way down the stairs.
Sophia: You won't get a single dollar of the estate, Alejandro! I will fight you in probate court for the rest of your life!
Alejandro: You won't be fighting anyone from a state prison cell, Sophia.
Alejandro turned back to his mother's bedside, dropping to his knees and wrapping his hands around Elena's warm, frail fingers.
Alejandro: How are you feeling, Mom?
Elena: Better... mijo... thank you...
Paramedic: Her heart rate is stabilizing, Mr. Vance. We need to take her to St. Jude Hospital for a full toxicology screen and observation, but she's going to be okay.
Alejandro: I'm coming with you in the ambulance.
Elena: Don't leave me... Alejandro...
Alejandro: I'm never leaving your side again, Mom. The house is safe now.
