The Gala Gatekeepers

Victoria: Mr. Sterling, please! There has been a terrible misunderstanding!

Arthur: Misunderstanding? I heard every single word you said to her!

Julian: Sir, we were only trying to protect the exclusivity of your event. She didn't have a badge!

Arthur: She doesn't need a badge! She owns the company that paid for this entire ballroom!

Victoria gasped, her cheeks turning bright red as she backed away a step.

Victoria: What? But... she's wearing a basic shirt!

Olivia: I was working in the workshop all morning, Dad. I came straight here from the design room.

Arthur: And you look wonderful, sweetheart. Don't apologize to these fools.

Julian: Dad?! She's your daughter?!

Arthur: She is my daughter, my business partner, and the master jeweler who crafted the centerpieces for tonight!

Arthur turned to his head of security, pointing a sharp finger at Julian and Victoria.

Arthur: Marcus, revoke their invitations immediately. Escort them out of the building.

Marcus: Right away, Mr. Sterling.

Victoria: Wait! No! Julian's firm is the primary donor for the hospital drive tonight!

Julian: Mr. Sterling, my father has done business with you for twenty years! You can't ruin our family's reputation over a minor argument!

Arthur: Minor argument? You humiliated my child in front of my staff.

Olivia: They didn't just insult me, Dad. They said people like me shouldn't even breathe the same air in this hotel.

Arthur: Then they can breathe the air outside on the sidewalk.

Marcus and three large security guards stepped forward, blocking Julian and Victoria from moving further into the hall.

Julian: You're making a massive mistake, Sterling!

Marcus: Ma'am, sir, move toward the exit peacefully or we will assist you.

Victoria clutched her dress, tears of sheer embarrassment springing to her eyes as other high-profile guests began whispering and pointing at them.

Victoria: This is outrageous! I spent five thousand dollars on this gown for tonight!

Olivia: Money can buy a gown, ma'am. It clearly can't buy class.

Victoria glared at Olivia with pure venom, but she had no choice as the security team firmly guided her and Julian toward the main revolving doors.

Arthur: Are you alright, Olivia?

Olivia: I'm fine, Dad. I'm just glad I kept the box safe.

Arthur: Let's get inside the private dining suite. We have work to do before the main dinner starts.

Olivia nodded, holding the velvet box against her chest as they walked toward the grand doors, leaving the humiliated couple out in the cold evening air.
