The Price of Arrogance

Harrison pulled out a chair, his hands shaking as he sat down opposite Arthur and Olivia.

Harrison: Miss Sterling, I apologize from the bottom of my heart. Julian was raised better than this. He had no idea who you were!

Olivia: That's the problem, Mr. Vance. It shouldn't matter who I am.

Harrison: You're right, absolutely right. He was cruel and arrogant, and there is no excuse.

Arthur: Julian told my daughter that she didn't belong in this building. He said her thoughts were small, and that she was just the help.

Harrison: He is a fool, Arthur! A complete fool!

Arthur: Your firm relies on my maritime transport contracts to stay solvent, Harrison.

Harrison: Arthur, please... if you cancel those contracts, Vance Logistics will go into foreclosure!

Arthur: Then I suggest you make a choice right now.

Harrison: Anything! Name your terms, I'll sign whatever you want!

Arthur: First, Julian is stripped of his title as Vice President of your firm immediately.

Harrison winced, but he nodded quickly.

Harrison: Done. I will issue the press release before midnight.

Arthur: Second, the woman with him... Victoria. What is her family's connection to your business?

Harrison: Her family owns the catering group we hired for our corporate galas. She was using Julian to get access to your inner circle tonight.

Arthur: Terminate your contract with her family's company instantly. I don't want her making a single dime off any venture linked to my name.

Harrison: It will be done by tomorrow morning, I swear it!

Arthur: And third... Julian will write a formal, public apology to my daughter, and he will pledge one million dollars of his personal trust fund to the hospital charity tonight.

Harrison let out a long breath, staring at Olivia with desperation in his eyes.

Harrison: If he does that, will you keep our logistics contract active?

Arthur: The contract remains on a three-month probation. One more mistake from your son, and I will bankrupt your firm overnight.

Harrison: Thank you, Arthur. Thank you, Miss Sterling. You are far more merciful than my son deserved.

Harrison stood up, bowing his head respectfully to Olivia before practically sprinting out of the room to carry out the orders.

Olivia: Do you think Julian will actually learn anything from this?

Arthur: When a man loses his money, his job, and his pride in one evening, he tends to remember the lesson for the rest of his life.
