Ethan: Clara? How is he doing?
Clara: His knee is a little red, Mr. Sterling, but he's finally stopped crying.
Ethan pushed open the door to the nursery, where Clara was sitting on the rug rolling a wooden train back and forth.
Leo looked up from his toys, his eyes still puffy and wet with tears.
Leo: Daddy!
Ethan: Hey, my little man. Come here.
Ethan dropped to his knees on the rug and opened his arms wide, pulling his son close against his shoulder.
Ethan: I'm so sorry, Leo. Daddy promises nobody will ever hurt you again.
Clara: I should have stopped her sooner, Mr. Sterling. I was in the kitchen fixing his bottle when I heard her yelling.
Ethan: It wasn't your fault, Clara. You protected him the second you got in there.
Clara: She's been so strict with him lately... whenever you're at the office, her whole attitude changes.
Ethan froze, looking up from his son with a dark expression.
Ethan: What do you mean her whole attitude changes?
Clara: I... I don't want to overstep my place, sir.
Ethan: Clara, you have been Leo's nanny since he was born. Speak freely.
Clara: Whenever you go to the corporate office in the morning, Miss Victoria turns off the nanny cams in the living room.
Ethan: She turns off the cameras?
Clara: She told me it was a privacy violation for her to be filmed while reading in the lounge.
Ethan: Has she put her hands on him before today?
Clara: Last Tuesday, I found a red mark on his arm. She claimed he pinched himself on a cabinet door.
Ethan: My God...
Clara: And three days ago, she locked the nursery door from the outside while he was taking a nap so she wouldn't hear him whine.
Ethan stood up, his fists clenching so hard his knuckles turned white.
Ethan: Why didn't you tell me this right away, Clara?
Clara: She threatened me, Mr. Sterling. She told me she had friends in the police department who would make sure I lost my work visa if I spoke a word to you.
Ethan: She threatened your visa status?
Clara: Yes, sir. I was terrified. My family back home relies on the salary I earn here.
Ethan: Clara, look at me.
Clara: Yes, sir?
Ethan: You will never have to fear that woman again. My legal team will secure your permanent residency status by next week.
Clara: Oh, Mr. Sterling... thank you! Thank you so much!
Ethan: You saved my son today. A hundred visas wouldn't be enough to repay you.
Clara: I just love little Leo. His mother was so kind to me before she passed, and I couldn't bear to see her child treated like trash.
Ethan: Neither can I. I'm calling my head of security right now.
Ethan pulled his phone out and pressed a quick speed dial number while stepping toward the nursery window.
Marcus: Sterling Security, Marcus speaking.
Ethan: Marcus, pull up the cloud backup for all interior cameras over the past three weeks.
Marcus: Sir? Miss Victoria turned off the main feed feeds manually from the wall panel.
Ethan: I know she did. But the secondary security system my father installed in the ceiling smoke detectors runs on an encrypted cloud server that can't be turned off from the wall.
Marcus: I forgot about the secondary backup. You want me to review the living room footage?
Ethan: Review every single frame involving Victoria Vance and my son. If she touched him, I want it saved in high definition.
Marcus: I'll have the complete folder ready on your desk within an hour, sir.
Ethan: Good. Because Victoria's family thinks they hold all the cards in Dallas. It's time to show them what happens when you cross a Sterling.
