No Room for Mercy

A Wealthy Man Slapped His Fiancée Without Knowing Her Real Identity banner

Julian: Clara... please. I made a mistake. I shouldn't have put my hands on you. I was out of my mind with stress!

Clara: You didn't make a mistake, Julian. You showed me who you truly were the moment you thought I was powerless.

Julian: I love you! You know I love you!

Clara: You loved the idea of a quiet girl you could control. You loved the idea of someone who would take your abuse and smile through it.

Clara picked up her pen, signing her name swiftly at the bottom of the foreclosure document.

Clara: The sheriff is currently at your estate changing the locks. Your personal clothes have been packed into four suitcases and placed on the curb outside.

Evelyn: The curb?! You put my haute couture dresses on the street curb?!

Clara: Be grateful I didn't donate them to goodwill, Evelyn.

Julian: What are we supposed to do now?! Where are we supposed to live?!

Clara: You have the two-bedroom apartment in the industrial district that you leased under a shell company last year. You can live there.

Julian gasped, his mouth hanging open in utter shock.

Julian: How... how do you know about that apartment?

Clara: I know about the apartment, I know about your secret offshore account in the Caymans, and I know about the fraud you committed on your tax filings last year.

Julian's face went completely deathly white.

Julian: Clara... please... don't call the authorities. I'm begging you.

Clara: The IRS auditor is waiting in the lobby downstairs, Julian. I suggest you go speak with him before he issues a warrant for your arrest.

Julian fell out of his chair, dropping straight to his knees on the carpet in front of the entire board of directors.

Julian: Clara, I'll do anything! I'll work for you! I'll clean your shoes! Just don't send me to prison!

Clara looked down at the man who had slapped her across the face just twenty-four hours ago.

She remembered the cold contempt in his eyes, the sting of his hand, and the sound of his mother laughing in the background.

Clara: Remember every word you said to me last night, Julian. Because those words just cost you your life.

She stood up, closing her leather folder, and looked at the two security guards standing at the boardroom doors.

Clara: Escort Mr. Vance and his mother off the premises immediately.

Guard: Yes, Miss Vance.

The two guards stepped forward, grabbing Julian by his arms and dragging him up off the floor as he screamed and begged for mercy.

Julian: Clara! Clara, please! Give me one more chance!

Evelyn began to cry hysterically, her hands clutching at her ruined outfit as the guards guided her toward the elevator doors.

Evelyn: You're a monster, Clara! A heartless monster!

Clara turned her back to them, stepping toward the large floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the city skyline, her voice steady and calm.

Clara: No, Evelyn. I'm just the owner.
