The Boardroom Confrontation

Clara: Gregory?! How did you follow us here?

Gregory: I put a GPS tracker on your lawyer's car, you foolish girl!

Gregory stood at the bottom of the stairs, holding a crowbar in his right hand, his face pale and desperate.

Gregory: Give me those journals! If those books disappear, you have no case against my company!

Sarah: Put down the crowbar, Gregory! You are digging your own grave deeper by the second!

Gregory: My life is already over if those patents hit the courtroom tomorrow! I have nothing left to lose!

He lunged forward toward Sarah, raising the heavy steel bar above his head.

Without hesitating for a single second, Clara grabbed a heavy brass dress mannequin stand resting against the table and swung it sideways with all her strength.

The heavy brass base struck Gregory across the chest, knocking him backward onto the concrete floor with a loud, metallic crash.

The crowbar clattered across the room as Gregory gasped for air, clutching his bruised ribs.

Clara: Don't you ever threaten my people again, Gregory!

Two city police officers rushed down the basement stairs with their flashlights drawn, their boots thundering against the concrete.

Officer Miller: Freeze! Hands where we can see them!

Sarah: Over here, officers! This man just broke into private property and attempted to assault us with a deadly weapon!

Officer Miller: Gregory Croft? We have a warrant for your arrest issued by the federal magistrate!

Gregory: Get off me! They stole my father's property!

Officer Miller: You have the right to remain silent, sir. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.

The officers pulled Gregory to his feet, snapping heavy silver handcuffs behind his back as he groaned in pain.

Eleanor stood tall beside the cutting table, holding the leather sketchbooks tightly against her chest as the police led Gregory away in shame.

Eleanor: Forty years ago, your father took my freedom, Gregory. Today, you gave it back to me.

Gregory: You'll all pay for this... my lawyers will tear those books to pieces!

Sarah: Your lawyers already resigned ten minutes ago, Gregory. You're on your own.

The bright red light of the police cruisers flashed through the basement windows as Gregory was pushed into the back of a squad car, ending his decades of arrogance once and for all.

Clara wrapped her arm around Eleanor's frail shoulders, smiling warmly through her tears as they walked out into the cool night air.

Clara: Tomorrow morning, Eleanor... the world is going to see your true legacy.
