The high-rise office lounge on the fifty-fourth floor was dead silent. Rain tapped softly against the massive glass windows overlooking downtown Manhattan. High-powered executives and corporate lawyers stood around the marble coffee bar, holding their expensive espresso cups.
Tiffany stood near the glass counter, her designer white dress crisp and pristine. Her eyes burned with pure malice as she stared at the woman standing opposite her.
Evelyn wore a simple grey tailored suit. Her blonde hair was pulled back neatly, and her expression remained completely unbothered despite Tiffany's furious glare.
Tiffany: You think you can just walk in here and take my spot?
Evelyn: I'm just waiting for the board meeting to start, Tiffany.
Tiffany: You don't belong on this floor. You don't belong in this building.
Tiffany picked up a glass of ice water from the marble counter.
Tiffany: GET OUT!
With a violent flick of her wrist, Tiffany splashed the entire glass of cold water straight into Evelyn's face. The ice cubes bounced off Evelyn's chest and clattered onto the floor. Several onlookers gasped loudly, freezing in place.
Water dripped from Evelyn's chin onto the collar of her grey suit jacket. Tiffany leaned forward, pointing a manicured finger directly at Evelyn's face.
Tiffany: TAKE YOUR SAD LITTLE CARDIO BODY AND WALK!
Evelyn didn't blink. She reached into her pocket, pulled out a small cloth, and wiped the water off her face. A calm, knowing smile crept across her lips.
Tiffany: What are you smiling at, you freak?
Before Tiffany could react, Evelyn stepped forward and delivered a sharp, loud slap across Tiffany's cheek. The impact echoed off the high ceiling like a gunshot. Tiffany stumbled back, clutching her stinging face as a bright red handprint formed on her skin.
Evelyn casually turned around and picked up a thick grey document folder resting on the marble counter.
Evelyn: EASY. JUST WATCH.
She turned toward the executive director standing by the door.
Evelyn: GIVE ME. I'M DONE WITH THIS.
Evelyn handed the folder to him. He opened it slowly, revealing an official corporate document bearing a heavy embossed gold seal. Tiffany stared in absolute horror as she realized the woman she had just humiliated owned everything in the room.
