The Locket in the Trash

The Hidden Photo On The Ballroom Floor banner

Lucas: Answer me, Camila. Who is this girl?

Camila: I told you, it's just an old picture from a charity drive years ago!

Lucas: This picture was taken in my mother's old house fifteen years ago. I know that uniform.

Elena: That... that's my mother's photo.

Camila's eyes widened in sudden terror as she took a sharp step back, her high heels clicking loudly against the floor.

Camila: Shut up! Don't you dare speak to him!

Lucas: Let her speak, Camila. Elena, what did you just say?

Elena: That photo belonged to my mother. She kept it inside her silver locket before she passed away.

Camila: She's lying, Lucas! She's just trying to cause a scene to get money out of you!

Lucas: The locket in this photo has my family's crest engraved on the back. I gave it to my sister before she vanished.

Lucas stood up slowly, clutching the small picture tightly in his right hand. His eyes were cold as he stared at Camila, whose confident smile had completely vanished.

Camila: Lucas, darling, please listen to me. We are getting married next month. You can't believe a hotel maid over your own fiancée!

Lucas: My fiancée wouldn't have my lost sister's personal belongings hidden in her bag.

Elena: She stole it from my locker this morning, sir.

Camila: You insolent brat!

Camila raised her hand to strike Elena across the face, but Lucas stepped in between them, grabbing Camila's wrist mid-air with a firm grip.

Lucas: Don't you ever touch her again.

Camila: You're taking her side over mine?! In front of all these people?!

Lucas: I'm taking the side of the truth. Security, lock the doors to the main ballroom.

Camila: Lucas, no! You're making a huge mistake!

Lucas: The only mistake I made was trusting you three years ago when you showed up at my corporate office claiming to be my long-lost cousin.

The crowd surrounding them began to whisper loudly, taking out their smartphones to record the intense confrontation unfolding on the ballroom floor.

Guest 1: Is that really the missing heiress?

Guest 2: Look at the girl's face... she looks just like the old estate portrait!

Camila: Put those phones away! Turn them off right now!

Elena: My mother always told me that one day someone from her real family would find us. She told me never to lose that photo.

Lucas: Where is the silver locket now, Elena?

Elena: Camila took it from my staff locker two hours ago. She said a dirty maid didn't deserve to wear high-end silver.

Lucas looked down at the pile of items still lying on the floor. Near the lipstick and powder compacts, a faint metallic glint caught the bright overhead light.
