The primary officer grabbed Camila's arm, twisting it firmly behind her back. The cold metal handcuffs clicked loudly into place around her wrists, right over her beaded gown.
Camila: Ouch! You're hurting me! Lucas, tell them to stop!
Lucas: You brought this on yourself the moment you dumped your clutch on the floor to bully a working girl.
Camila: She's a nobody! She's just a maid working for minimum wage!
Lucas: She is my niece, Camila. My sister's biological daughter and the rightful heir to half of the Vance family fortune.
The crowd broke out into sudden cheers and loud applause, filling the grand ballroom as the police officers began escorting Camila toward the main exit doors.
Guest 3: Serves her right! She was always so arrogant to the staff!
Guest 4: What a horrible woman! Stealing from an orphan!
Camila: You're all crazy! Every single one of you! Lucas, you'll regret this! My lawyers will have me out by midnight!
Lucas: Your lawyers were paid using my company's retainer account, Camila. I canceled their service five minutes ago.
Camila screamed in frustration as the officers pushed her through the heavy glass doors into the main lobby, her high heels dragging along the floor until the doors slammed shut behind her.
Lucas turned around to face Elena, looking down at the young girl with a mixture of deep sorrow and genuine warmth in his eyes.
Lucas: I am so sorry, Elena. I should have searched harder for my sister's real family years ago.
Elena: You didn't know, Uncle Lucas. Camila made sure nobody could find us.
Lucas: Well, she failed. You're home now.
Lucas reached out and gently placed the silver locket into Elena's hands, wrapping her small fingers around the warm metal frame.
Elena: Thank you... thank you so much.
Lucas: Take off that uniform, Elena. You're never going to work as a maid another day in your life.
Elena: But... what about the event tonight? The manager will fire me if I leave my post.
Lucas: I'm firing the manager for allowing guests to treat staff like trash. Come, let's go home.
