Security Guard: Nobody leaves this hallway, ma'am. Mr. Vance's orders.
Victoria: Get your hands off me! Do you know who I am?! I am about to become the mistress of this estate!
Julian: You will never step foot on this property again, Victoria.
Victoria: Julian, please! You can't believe this trash over me! We've been together for two years!
Julian: Two years of lies. Two years of you pushing me to change my estate will.
Claire wiped a tear from her cheek, her hands still shaking from the confrontation.
Claire: She tried to frame me, Mr. Vance. After she pushed me in the pantry, she slipped her ruby bracelet into my apron pocket.
Julian: What?
Claire: She was going to tell security I stole her jewelry so no one would believe me if I spoke up about the poison.
Claire pulled the sparkling ruby bracelet out of her vest pocket and held it out toward Julian.
Claire: Here. Take it. I never touched her things.
Julian looked at the bracelet, then at Victoria. His expression was filled with utter disgust.
Julian: You were going to ruin an innocent girl's life just to cover up your murder attempt?
Victoria: She was snooping around where she didn't belong!
Julian: She was doing her job! Unlike you, who has been parasite-feeding off my family's wealth!
An elderly man in a charcoal suit walked down the hallway, carrying a glass of champagne. It was Uncle Arthur.
Arthur: What is going on out here? Julian, why aren't you in the ballroom? The board members are waiting for your toast.
Julian: The toast is canceled, Arthur.
Arthur: Canceled? What are you talking about? Victoria, why are you crying? Why is your cheek red?
Victoria: Arthur... they know. They have the security video from the bar.
Arthur froze. The smug, wealthy smile disappeared from his face in an instant. He set his glass down on a nearby side table with a sharp clink.
Arthur: Security video? What security video?
Julian: The feed from the hidden camera I installed near the main bar three days ago, Arthur.
Arthur: You... you put a camera at the bar?
Julian: I noticed thousands of dollars missing from the event funds last week. I thought a bartender was stealing. I never expected to catch my own uncle and my fiancee plotting to poison me.
Arthur: Julian, listen to me very carefully. You are misinterpreting whatever you saw on that small screen.
Julian: I saw Victoria pour a vial of clear liquid into my glass. And I saw you hand her that exact glass ten seconds earlier.
Arthur: I was just handing her a drink! I didn't put anything in it!
Claire: You bought that vial from a pharmacy downtown yesterday afternoon, Mr. Vance! I found the receipt in the study trash bin when I was cleaning!
Arthur glared at Claire with pure hatred in his eyes.
Arthur: You little brat! You've been digging through my private trash?!
Claire: You left the receipt on top of the desk next to the estate ledger! You were so careless because you thought nobody would ever check!
Julian: It's over, Arthur. Both of you are finished.
