The Confession On The Smartwatch

Arthur: Julian, you're making a massive mistake. If you cause a scene tonight, the company stock will plunge by morning!

Julian: I don't care about the stock right now, Arthur. My life was almost taken in my own home!

Victoria: Arthur, do something! Tell him it was your idea! Tell him you forced me!

Arthur: Shut your mouth, Victoria!

Victoria: No! I'm not going to jail for you! You told me Julian was going to remove you as trustee next month! You said we had to act before the annual board meeting!

Julian: So it was true... you knew I was removing you, Arthur.

Arthur: You had no right to remove me! I built this company with your father!

Julian: My father built this company. You just spent thirty years living off his hard work!

Julian pulled his smartphone from his inner jacket pocket and pressed a button on the screen.

Julian: Everything you both just said was recorded through my smartwatch microphone.

Victoria gasped, her face turning completely white. She lunged forward toward Julian, her fingernails reaching for his phone.

Victoria: Give me that phone!

Before she could reach him, the lead security guard grabbed her arms from behind, pinning her securely.

Security Guard: Stay back, ma'am!

Victoria: Let go of me! Julian, please! I was scared! Arthur threatened to tell everyone about my family's debts if I didn't help him!

Julian: You chose to help him attempt murder instead of coming to me for help, Victoria. That tells me everything I ever need to know about your character.

Claire: Mr. Vance, the police are arriving at the front gate. I called them from the pantry before I came out here.

Julian turned to Claire, his eyes filled with profound gratitude and regret.

Julian: You called the police before confronting them?

Claire: I had to make sure you were safe first. When I saw Victoria walking toward you with that glass, I couldn't wait any longer.

Julian: You risked your job... you risked your own safety to save my life.

Claire: Nobody deserves to be betrayed like that, Mr. Vance. No matter how much money they have.

The heavy oak doors at the end of the hallway swung open, and four uniformed police officers stepped inside, their boots clicking firmly against the hardwood floor.

Officer Miller: Mr. Julian Vance?

Julian: I'm Julian Vance, Officer. Thank you for getting here so quickly.

Officer Miller: We received a report of an attempted poisoning and financial fraud at this address.

Julian pointed directly at Arthur and Victoria.

Julian: These two attempted to poison my drink tonight. I have full video footage, audio recordings of their confession, and physical evidence in the study.

Arthur: This is a misunderstanding, Officer! I am a senior board member of Vance Enterprises!

Officer Miller: I don't care about your job title, sir. Hands behind your back right now.
