Richard: You don't know anything about her husband!
Julian: Her late husband was David Vance, wasn't he?
Richard: David Vance was just a senior accountant who died in a car crash four years ago!
Julian: David Vance was my father's most trusted chief financial officer, Richard. And he died the exact same week my father's original will went missing from the estate safe.
Richard: That was four years ago! The probate court already declared our father's estate settled!
Julian: Settled because you presented a fake codicil that gave you forty percent of the company shares!
Richard: It wasn't fake! Father signed it himself in front of witnesses!
Julian: Witnessed by your personal loan shark, Richard! Do you think I'm stupid?
Julian walked slowly over to the painting hanging behind Richard's desk and swung it open, revealing a heavy iron safe built into the wall.
Richard: Stop! You can't open my private safe!
Julian: This is my father's safe, Richard. And I know the master bypass code.
Julian quickly typed six digits into the digital keypad: 1-9-8-4-0-8. The electronic lock beeped twice, and the heavy iron door popped open with a soft click.
Richard rushed forward, reaching out frantically to stop him.
Richard: Get away from there, Julian!
Julian grabbed Richard by his suit lapels and shoved him back forcefully into his leather desk chair.
Julian: Sit down and stay down!
Julian reached deep inside the safe, pulling out a thick manila envelope sealed with red wax.
Richard: Julian, please... let's talk about this like brothers!
Julian: We aren't brothers, Richard. You're the son of my father's second wife, and you've been leeching off this family since the day you moved in.
Julian broke the red wax seal and pulled out a stack of yellowed legal documents signed in dark ink.
Julian: This is my father's original handwritten will... dated two days before his death.
Richard: That document is invalid! It was never registered with the county clerk!
Julian: Because you hid it in this safe, Richard! And look at what my father wrote on page three.
Julian held the document up under the desk light, his eyes scanning the elegant handwriting.
Julian: 'To David Vance, in gratitude for his unwavering loyalty, I leave ten percent of the voting shares of Moreno Enterprises, to be held in trust for his daughter, Emma Vance.'
Richard put his head in his hands, groaning in defeat as the full truth was exposed.
Julian: You didn't just hide my father's real will... you stole an orphan girl's inheritance!
Richard: It was twenty million dollars in stock, Julian! Why should a maid's daughter get twenty million dollars of my family's money?!
Julian: Because it wasn't your money, Richard! It belonged to David Vance and his daughter!
Richard: If you show that to the board, the company stock will plunge! We'll lose millions!
Julian: I don't care about the stock price, Richard. I care about justice.
Julian placed the documents carefully into his inner suit pocket, stepping toward the office door.
Richard: Where are you going?
Julian: I'm going to the kitchen to tell Sarah and Emma that they don't have to clean another floor in this mansion ever again.
Richard: Julian, wait! You can't ruin my life over a maid!
Julian: You ruined your own life the day you decided to rob a seven-year-old child, Richard.
Julian opened the heavy office door and stepped out into the hallway, leaving Richard sitting alone in his empty office, staring at the open, empty safe in total ruin.
