Justice Served At The Mansion

Richard: You called the police to our home?!

Julian: I called the corporate fraud division, Richard. They have a warrant for your personal financial records and the contents of that safe.

Richard: You're destroying our family name over a maid and her child!

Julian: You destroyed our family name when you forged a codicil and stole from an orphan, Richard.

The heavy front oak doors of the mansion echoed as two uniformed police officers and a state prosecutor in a dark coat walked into the foyer.

Prosecutor Vance: Julian Moreno? I'm Assistant State Prosecutor Vance. We received your emergency filing regarding corporate forgery and trust theft.

Julian: Over here, Prosecutor. My stepbrother, Richard Moreno, is standing right in the kitchen.

The officers stepped past the marble pillars, stepping into the kitchen and standing on either side of Richard.

Officer Davis: Richard Moreno, you are being placed under arrest for corporate forgery, insurance fraud, and grand felony theft of trust assets.

Richard: Get your hands off me! Do you know who I am?! I am the Vice President of Moreno Enterprises!

Julian: You were the Vice President, Richard. The board voted unanimously ten minutes ago via emergency conference call to remove you from all executive positions.

Richard: You can't do this to me, Julian! I'm your brother!

Julian: Turn around and put your hands behind your back, Richard.

Officer Davis pulled Richard's arms behind his back, clicking heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists in front of Sarah, Emma, and the entire kitchen staff.

Richard: You'll regret this, Julian! You'll regret this for the rest of your life!

Julian: Take him away, Officer.

The officers guided a shouting, desperate Richard out of the kitchen, his polished dress shoes dragging across the smooth marble floor of the foyer as he was taken out to the police car.

Prosecutor Vance stepped over to the wooden island, examining the handwritten will laying on the table.

Prosecutor Vance: This document is authentic, Mr. Moreno. The handwriting matches your father's signature on the original estate filings from 2020.

Julian: How long will it take to transfer the stock to Emma's legal trust?

Prosecutor Vance: With your full cooperation as the chief executor, the probate court can finalize the transfer within forty-eight hours.

Sarah: Prosecutor Vance... does this mean Emma is safe?

Prosecutor Vance: Ma'am, your daughter is not only safe, she is now one of the primary shareholders of one of the largest logistics corporations in the state.

Sarah looked down at Emma, tears of overwhelming joy washing away the years of pain, fear, and hard labor.

Emma: Mommy, does this mean we don't have to live in the small basement room anymore?

Julian: No, Emma. You and your mom are moving into the guest wing upstairs today. And as soon as the court finishes the paperwork, you can buy any home in the city you want.

Emma: Can I have a garden with yellow flowers, Mr. Moreno?

Julian: You can have the biggest garden in the world, Emma.

Julian smiled warmly, kneeling down once more to pat Emma gently on the shoulder as the dark clouds that had hung over the Moreno mansion finally cleared away into the sunlit afternoon.
