Clara led the way down the wide carpeted hallway toward the airport administrative suite, with Miller and two security guards following closely behind.
Miller kept wringing his hands, looking around like a trapped animal searching for an exit.
Miller: Director Sterling, if you fire me, my union representative will file a formal grievance before the end of the day!
Clara: Let him file it. Your union representative is already waiting inside the board room.
Miller: What? How did he get here so fast?
Clara: Because I called him two hours ago, before I even walked into the terminal.
Clara pushed open the heavy glass doors of the executive suite, stepping into a large room with a polished oak table.
Sitting around the table were three high-level airport executives, a union representative in a dark suit, and the airport's chief legal counsel.
Union Rep: Director Sterling, thank you for inviting us. Is this Officer Miller?
Clara: Yes. This is the man who just physical assaulted a member of the public in Lane 4.
Union Rep: Miller, what on earth did you do?
Miller: It was a misunderstanding! She was acting suspicious, and I had to use physical force to secure the perimeter!
Clara: Play the video feed, Sarah.
The legal counsel pressed a button on her laptop, projecting high-definition security camera footage onto the large wall screen.
The video clearly showed Clara standing quietly in line, holding her passport. It showed Miller marching over aggressively, shoving her hard with both hands, and knocking her to the floor.
The union representative put his head in his hands, groaning softly.
Union Rep: Miller... you shoved an unprovoked traveler to the floor on live camera?
Miller: She reached into her bag! I thought she had a weapon!
Clara: My hands were at my sides, Miller. The camera shows my hands were completely empty.
Legal Counsel: This is a clear violation of Section 4 Corporate Security Guidelines. Physical contact without imminent threat is grounds for immediate termination without severance.
Miller: You can't take my severance! I put in six years at this airport!
Clara: You didn't just break company policy, Miller. You violated federal law under color of authority.
Miller: What does that mean?
Clara: It means you used your uniform to commit assault against a citizen.
The door behind them opened, and two uniformed police officers from the city department stepped into the room.
Police Officer: Director Sterling? We received your dispatch request regarding an assault on airport grounds.
Clara: Thank you for arriving so quickly, Officer. This is Officer Miller.
Miller's eyes went wide with pure panic as he backed away toward the corner of the room.
Miller: Police? You called the city police on me?!
Clara: You committed a crime, Miller. A uniform doesn't protect you from the law.
