The bright daylight streamed through the tall windows of the modern kitchen, lighting up the pristine white marble island and hardwood floors.
Pamela: Look at you, sitting on my clean floor like a beggar!
Sarah: Please, Pamela, the baby just fell asleep... I couldn't move without waking her.
Pamela: I don't care about your excuses! Get up and clean this mess right now!
Sarah sat on the hardwood floor, holding her crying baby tightly against her chest as her tears dropped onto the white blanket.
Sarah: I've been cleaning all morning... I just needed five minutes to rest.
Pamela: You don't get to rest in my house! You're useless, Sarah! My son made the biggest mistake of his life marrying you!
Pamela stood tall over her daughter-in-law, her hands on her hips, her blue shirt pressed neatly as she glared down with utter contempt.
Sarah: Please... stop shouting... you're scaring the baby.
Pamela: I will shout all I want in my own home! You're a lazy, pathetic excuse for a mother!
Heavy footsteps echoed down the hallway as Mark walked straight into the bright kitchen wearing his black polo shirt.
Mark: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!
Mark stepped forward with furious, protective energy, grabbing Pamela by her arms before she could lean any closer to his wife.
Pamela: Mark! Let go of me!
Without hesitating, Mark violently slammed his mother onto the wooden floor near the marble counter, holding her down in explosive rage.
Pamela: I AM YOUR MOTHER! YOU DARE TOUCH ME?!
Mark: YOU CANNOT TREAT MY WIFE LIKE THIS! WE ARE LEAVING RIGHT NOW!
Pamela lay pinned on the floor, her eyes wide with outrage and disbelief as Mark gritted his teeth, pointing down at her with total conviction.
Mark: YOU CAN STAY IN THIS EMPTY HOUSE ALONE!
He turned around, gently helping his sobbing wife up from the floor, and pulled his crying baby safely into his arms.
Mark: NEVER COME NEAR MY FAMILY AGAIN!
Mark held Sarah's hand tightly, carrying their baby as they walked purposefully away through the bright doorway, leaving Pamela sprawled defeated on the floor, completely unaware of the dark secret that was about to shatter her life forever.
