The Unexpected Offer

Leo: I can help her.

Arthur: Get away from her!

Leo: You heard the doctor. You have no other choice.

Arthur: You are a child who lives in a shed!

Leo: I know what is happening inside her body.

Arthur: How could you possibly know that?

Leo: I just do. I can feel it from here.

Charles: Sir, the boy might just be confused.

Arthur: This is a nightmare. This is an absolute nightmare.

Leo: Her heart is beating too fast. The baby's heart is barely beating at all.

Arthur stared at the boy, his jaw dropping.

Arthur: How did you know the baby's heart rate was dropping?

Leo: Because everything is connected.

Arthur: That makes no sense.

Leo: Do you want her to live or not?

Arthur: Of course I do! I would give my entire fortune to save her!

Leo: Keep your money. I don't want it.

Arthur: Then what do you want?

Leo: I just want to hold her hand.

Arthur: You want to hold her hand? That's it?

Leo: Yes.

Arthur: Are you out of your mind? That won't cure internal bleeding!

Leo: I won't hurt her. Do you want to try?

The boy looked up earnestly, the bright natural daylight hitting his sun-kissed skin.

Charles: Mr. Sterling, there is no harm in letting him try while we wait.

Arthur: What if he has some kind of infection? He's covered in dirt!

Eleanor: Arthur...

Eleanor forced her eyes open, her voice barely a whisper.

Arthur: Yes, honey?

Eleanor: Let him.

Arthur: He's just a strange kid, Eleanor.

Eleanor: Please. I feel so cold.

Arthur: Fine. Okay.

Arthur took a step back, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

Arthur: One minute. You have one minute, kid.

Leo: That is all I need.

Leo walked slowly toward the wheelchair, keeping his eyes locked on Eleanor.
