The Grand Garden Party

Six months later, the sun shone brightly down on the sprawling green lawn of the Vance estate.

White linen tables were scattered across the garden, covered in fresh flowers, silver platters, and endless trays of delicious pastries from Thomas's bakery.

Dozens of children from the local city orphanage were running across the grass, playing tag and laughing under the clear blue sky.

Lily ran ahead of them, her pink dress fluttering in the warm breeze as she kicked a soccer ball toward a small net near the oak trees.

Lily: Leo! Catch the ball!

Leo stepped forward, kicking the ball cleanly back to her with a wide, bright smile on his face. He was dressed in a clean blue suit, looking healthy, happy, and well-cared for.

Richard stood near the patio, watching them with a cup of warm tea in his hand while Thomas adjusted his new chef's jacket beside him.

Thomas: Look at them, Richard. You'd think they were brother and sister.

Richard: They are brother and sister in every way that matters, Thomas. They saved each other.

Thomas: Who would have thought that a dirty little delivery boy walking into your foyer six months ago would bring so much light into this house?

Richard: Kindness doesn't care about dirty clothes or expensive suits, Thomas. It just needs an open heart.

Leo ran over to the patio, wiping his forehead with a clean napkin as he grabbed a glass of fresh lemonade.

Leo: Dad! Look at how fast Lily can run now!

Richard smiled warmly, his chest swelling with pride as Leo naturally called him 'Dad' for the very first time.

Richard: She's faster than anyone I've ever seen, son. And it's all thanks to you.

Leo: We're a real family now, right?

Richard: The realest family in the world, Leo. Nothing is ever going to break us apart.

Lily came running up the patio steps, wrapping her arms tightly around Leo and Richard as the afternoon sun cast a warm, golden light over the peaceful garden, sealing their happiness forever.
